6 Of The Best Saltwater Fishing Rods

6 Of The Best Saltwater Fishing Rods

I personally use all 6 of these fishing rods. In this video I review some of the differences in the Carbon Inshore, GX2, Big Water, Elite, Inshore Select and InterCoastal fishing rods from Ugly Stik.

I’ve been using Ugly Stik rods my entire life and have found them to be the very best when it comes to price, durability and warranty.

  1. Thanks for the video!! Every Ugly Stik "Pure" Carbon rod for Steelhead & Pacific Salmon rods that I know of, have an attractive Red resin-coating!! I was confused as to why you don’t have any of these C/Graphite rods??!! They’re available from light to heavy and up to 10′ 6" long, in both Casting and Spinning!! The heavy 10′ 6" will cast up to 6 Oz.

  2. What brand / size reel di you have on the Ugly Stix GX2? I just took a brand new Ugly Stix GX2 to St. George and although I love the rod, the reel froze up after the second day. I assume its from the sand and salt water so I am needing a new reel. Thanks!

  3. Just the video I needed to see. Ordered a Penn pursuit combo, and the tip broke off on me so I was looking at UglyStik rod as a replacement with plans of putting the penn pursuit reel on. Low and behold I came across your channel and that’s exactly what you are using and reviewing. Not the uglystik combo pack or penn combo, but the miss matched paring I was hoping to see before I spent the money on a new rod. Id rather watch a review before I go a little less expensive and still have a similar or better experience. Thank you kindly sir!!!!

  4. thanks so much for this video, i was in a fight with a big snook, and it broke off, then my rod broke be4 i was able to drag it to land, then i found out i used a light action rod, now i know what i need

  5. Shakespeare Ugly Stick!!!🤔🤔🤔🫣🫣🫣🫣. Yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!!, those rods are the BEST!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍

  6. Great review. I love all the ugly stik fishing rod model it was very light and durrable especially the stainless guide no need to worried the inside popping out

  7. Thanks for reviewing that Carbon Inshore. I had thoughts about adding this to my set up. It looks like a nice rod to keep around.

  8. Always loved Ugly Stikk. Just paired the select with a spinfisher vi 2500. Super balanced!! Trout slaying machine 🙂

  9. thanks for the info, I usually buy ugly sticks but only because like you said they are price conscious and easily available.

  10. Love your review and love the fact that your an every day Joe that considers every day Joe budget like myself… Most fishermen are sponsored and will push rod and reels that are not budget friendly.. Thank you again and appreciate your videos and your humility..

  11. My go to rods have been Berkley Ugly Stiks for medium and light spinning. Skakespeare Sturdy Stiks for bait fishing from a boat or pier. And I’ve added some Zebco Hot Cast rods for light stuff and guest rods. They are all durable good rods for the money.

  12. Thanks for the run down on these rods. I’m really interested in that tall rod in the corner to the left. What’s that? Lol

  13. I received great information. Got my eye on some Ugly sticks for my 33-year-old. I will have more fun picking them out now! Thank you for sharing.
Question: What are you’re favorite saltwater spots, (Hanapa!)?

  14. Fantastic video, I just came across your channel. I am right now in the market for a striper rod but I am torn between the new inshore Medium and Medium Heavy. I will be trolling freshwater and the fish are probably anywhere up to 30lbs on average. I feel like I’ll need the heavy but I don’t prefer the longer handle for trolling and I’d rather use the shorter. Do you think the Medium with the shorter handle will be strong enough for this type of fishing? Thanks in advance!

  15. I love the Ugly Stik GX2 9′ Elite Steelhead rods. I own 4. They handle 15-50 pound test and can cast up to 4oz lures. Lightweight and versatile and with a nice parabolic bend. I have never broken any components on them.

  16. I am looking for a nice saltwater rod and reel for my husband??? Mid range price. Fishing In RI So many different kinds ugh😂

  17. I have few St. Croix sticks anfbi like them but the Ugly can’t be beat and not just because they’re cheap. I’ve broke a few eyes but I replaced them and they work great. I do wish they made bigger intercoastal.

  18. Interesting how you don’t have 9 or 10 ft rods for surf fishing. I’m pretty sure Ugly Stik gx2 has a 9-foot rod that might be your best bet for surf fishing

  19. Love this video man great job, to many people hate on ugly stick but they quite literally are the best for the price

  20. All my rods are Ugly Stiks paired with penn reels except for one Abu Garcia.
They are great. Great video. God bless.

  21. Interesting video thanks JC! Ugly Stik rods have got quite a good reputation here in the UK. Amused that you seem to use much shorter rods in the USA than we do here! 7ft rods here are mainly used for boat fishing. My two light spinning rods are 9ft & 10ft, and for bait fishing from a beach, I have two 15ft rods. Some folk are using 16ft & upwards! Stay safe & well! 🎣🎣👍👍

  22. I’ve been catching no end of abuse for my ancient Ugly Stiks for decades now. Doesn’t matter to me. They work.

  23. I recently started fishing with my friends but I feel like a loser because I keep using my friends rods and I’m tired of not having my own. I was confused on what type of rod i should get. But thanks to you, I might know just what rod to get! I appreciate you!!💯
