  1. Just give up fishing, rains every weekend and day off plus everyday after work. Not worth even paying for a license

  2. I got into semi-regular/semi-serious fishing in 2020… when I was 39! This was the first video I watched to learn about bass fishing specifically. Thanks to you, I consider myself a real angler now and this was the video that started it all. MUCH APPRECIATION!

  3. Tennessee has Bill and Georgia has Gene. The two absolute best at teaching new fishermen. Gene literally picked up where Bill left off ❤

  4. Stumbling onto this now. Thank you for the awesome video! I’ve been wanting to get more into fishing but never really knew what to buy or get because of how overwhelming the store is! 26 years old and learning how to fish now so I can teach my daughters how to fish when they’re older!

  5. Just buy a cheap pack of hotdogs and you will get bites all day!! Lol Grandpa taught me long time ago

  6. I literally searched Bass Fishing for Beginners and clicked on the first video I saw. Imagine my joy when you said you were from Chattanooga, and I saw you shopping at the store right down the street from me! Lmao!

  7. Going out tomorrow to go get some of these things new to fishing myself and trying my best to catch a bass. This will be my fourth week trying to get a bass with no luck. Lol

  8. I’ve grown up fishing but now that I’ve got a few bicks to start building my collection I can finally get some decent baits and tackle so this video helps show what I should start with and what is more important

  9. If you’re fishing the river especially rapids get a rooster tail . Similar to spinner bait , but smaller . The small mouths love them.

  10. I usually hate videos like this but you gave pretty good advice. Weedless spoons like a Johnson Silver Minnow or a Moss Boss are pretty forgiving for beginners too.

  11. Going bass fishing tomorrow morning in the rain and if I catch something thanks to this vid I’ll buy some of your swag

  12. Such great information in this video. Education is key. Your picks are a great way to get into the hobby. Anyone will catch fish for sure!!!!

  13. I’m going to be teaching a friend how to fish lakes and rivers very soon. I have about 48 years experience with fishing but still love instructional videos. Always learning myself

  14. I’ve watched a lot of videos and I know things have changed as well as you mentioned in your other videos that your opinion has also changed over the years. How would this video go today? What changes do you have?

  15. "Rumer has it that after falling off his bike, Sleepy Joe tried to regain his ego on a treadmill. But, after only 1/8 mile, he got lost!"

  16. I’m no pro but I’m busy and practical I teach people how to use in-line spinners easy way to catch bass and easy and fun to use . These videos help

  17. Honestly the best way to learn is a pond with bass and a texas rigged senko. Probably the most easiest way to catch bass

  18. Add a spinnerbait and a whopper plopper to this. They’re both just cast and wind baits that can be used on spinning or bait casting gear that catch tons of fish. Just make sure to only fish a whopper plopper in low light, so mornings, evenings, and cloudy days. Or toss it into shade.

  19. Man I’m trying to take my son fishing this weekend and have no idea what to buy this helped tremendously! Cause I’m sure the sales associate as bass pro shop would upsell me a ton of stuff i don’t need haha so I’m glad i found this

  20. My current favorite plastic is a watermelon candy chigger craw from Berkeley. The scented ones. The bass love ‘em.

  21. I fished when I was younger with my dad, getting back into it on my own now that I’m done with school.

Lots of videos for fishing that have "basics" and "for beginners" in the title but already assume a lot knowledge. I really appreciate this true breakdown of the basics!

  22. I need to give you props sir, made a list of items to get from this video, made sure to get the strike king mini king spinnerbait. I have never used one successfully because I wasn’t any good. Threw one the 1st time and had 2 hits and 2 fish in 10 mins. Watched your videos on how to fish them, and am stoked. I was using all the wrong tackle and colors. The chartreuse and white made all the difference. The fish weren’t monsters. But I caught fish. Thank you sir!

  23. Awesome video brother. It’s funny when you was talking about baits.i pick the same two you did.i went fishing three time in the last couple of weeks cast everything but the toilet. Didn’t get a bite an as soon I put on a black trick worm got a 11/2 pounder then switch to pumpkin an miss about a three pounder.those 2 are always my back up.

  24. I don’t want my wife to know either how much money I’ve spent on tackle.😆😁 I feel you on that one!

  25. You forgot another good rig that i would sugest thats also very versatile. Has been used many times im sure in the bassmaster classic by pros and is proven to catch bass. The carolina rig

  26. Bro, this is the single best how to/beginner video I have ever seen on YT. Great info without alot of stupid interjection or confusion. I learned to fish on my own, lots of frustration, trial, error and frustration. And just when I would get comfortable, more frustration. Have I mentioned frustration? Seriously, THIS!!! is a great beginner how to video!!

  27. Skip the bullet weights and expensive hooks and go to some bulk plain jig heads. You can add plastic, bait, skirts, or other trailers and can be rigged weedless. A bass guide told me hooks and line are one of the biggest markups in the industry. I would also caution a new fisherman that some water is full of snags, and you’re going to lose tackle to anything on the bottom. Small spinner bait, a 2-3” floating Rapala, and a weedless spoon is where I would start. Add a package of 5” scented power bait that can be used as bodies or trailers.

  28. I like fishing gummy worms, the kind you get in the candy isle, and almost anything that has salt coating, I’ve found something shiny attracts fish to,
