  1. I love fishing the Boundary Waters for smallmouth as well. Do you realize you’re cranking in 4-5 pound smallmouth in under 15 seconds (or as fast as you can reel)? One of the qualities that make smallmouth so special is their pound-for-pound fighting ability. You’ve rendered that joy completely meaningless with way too heavy line and equipment. Try using 6-10 pound test and actually play the fish. It’s sporting and doesn’t harm them in the least if you handle them properly before releasing.

  2. FF to July of 2022. I’ve watched alot of your vids, this has been a great one! I can tell by the way you handle those fish, that you’ve gotten hooked before…

  3. Is this place open to the public would like to come check it out I’m from nc but would love to come camp and film there let me know

  4. Nice, so you have been up North. This is so pretty up here. The bass are all like 4-5 pounds.

  5. I am a long time outdoors enthusiast and I’m just getting into kayak fishing and I have to say you have the exact channel I was looking for. Between you simple approach and now I find this video. I am happy to know that not everyone out there is into the hype of it all and someone is still keeping it simple and enjoying nature. I live in northern IL and while. It’s mostly corn fields we have a lot of small creeks and rivers that go mostly in explored due to how shallow they are. The kayak is the perfect approach.

  6. I’m glad you don’t mention the places you fish. People will go and screw it up. Every other comment about why aren’t you eating your fish are the ones that screw up these places.

  7. After watching your videos for a couple years now I switched to a Wopper plopper and have literally caught thousands up her in Canada ever cast , caught my BP 51/2 p largemouth greatest lure ever invented any time of year

  8. Why are you throwing them all in? On a camping trip like this you’d make an awesome evening dinner cooking those up in alot of butter and salt in a pan over open fire.

  9. Why not fry up some of those fish? Hamburger helper instead of fresh fish? Albeit, I love hamburger helper..

  10. If you ever go back up north, other than the huge largemouth and smallmouth bass, there’s also monster pike, massive lake trout, huge walleye, dinner plate sized sunfish, slab crappie, huge perch, big rainbow and brook trout, big suckers, and giant rock bass. There’s also tons of hunting opportunities later in the season if that interests you. I’ve also heard that in some smaller lakes there are big lake sturgeon. Also heard of East Pike Lake holding some small musky.

  11. I really enjoy all of your videos, especially the videos of you smashing smallmouth of the river, but my favorite videos by far are these two where you are at the boundary waters. Please do more like these

  12. Hamburger Helper? How can you be camping on such a gorgeous site in the Boundary Waters and eat Hamburger Helper? It’s a sin. Thanks for the video!

  13. Hey Matt, can you tell me why everytime I get into a kayak I tip it over? I just don’t get it how you do all this and catch huge fish and not tip over

  14. I can’t believe you are in the BWCA !! I grew up there as a kid every summer near Ely..
    I’m so jealous.
Can’t edit to see where you go!!

  15. Started going to the BWCA when I was 8 years old till I was 18 with my dad. Best memories I’ve ever has with my dad!

  16. A real G keepin them thangs under your pillow, that way you’re ready in case a pike tries to cap you in your sleep.

  17. Whopper plopper for the win. When I was up there 2 years ago at the same time I was using a white plopper and caught a ton, everyone else in my crew had never heard of them. Heading back again this year and I’d say everyone will have at least one in their tackle box. BWCA is a great place to fish, which is why our 14 hour drive is worth it.

  18. My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it’d get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it’s well worth the money!(update)I’ve gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can’t wait for kayaking season this year!

  19. Plane fishing and chill, no fucking ads, hype music and 1 mil money gear.. best fishing channel ever. I only wish we see more of Pikes and Zanders 😄

  20. Bern there. Jumped off rocks with smapoo in my hair taking a bath. Raided beaver huts for firewood. Fish for dinner every night. Amazing place.

  21. Absolute phenomenal video man what a beautiful place takes me back to my youth thank you for sharing!!!

  22. I fish in northern Ontario but your videos really have me thinking about a northern Minnesota jaunt some day. I’m just gonna concur with every other comment here and praise the quality of your videos but also your advanced fishing skills, which you simply show, not tell. A high bar and I learn something new every time I watch. Makes you appreciate how great YouTube can be.

  23. It’s been a long time since I used that roller portage. Thanks for taking me back down memory lane.

  24. Out like that all day. Just about z as nothing tastes great. Congrats on an awesome opportunity. That water is still beautiful. Thank you BWCA for maintaining that beautiful area.

Thank you for sharing with us.
    Keep them coming.

  28. Brings back memories of a Quetico trip I took about 10 years ago. I think I may still have one in me. Thanks for the inspiration.

  29. Did a trip with some friends to BWCA. We had the time of our lives canoeing, camping and catching fish. We still talk about it to this day. Some of the most beautiful scenery and best fishing I’ve ever experienced, except Canada. Some of the best shore lunches I’ve ever had.
