Fishing with Lures for Beginners – When to Use (Underwater Fishing Lures)
Fishing lures for beginners…Fishing lures come in all shapes and sizes, and they can catch anything from bluegills to bass to muskies. Knowing when to throw a certain type of fishing lure can help you catch more fish and have a better time learning how to fish. We run through various lures including spinnerbaits, inline spinners, crankbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits, topwater baits like Whopper Ploppers and frogs, and spoons.
I would highly suggest these items below as a great starter fishing setup. This rod and reel are not super cheap, but they will serve a person well for many years. A cheap rod and reel won’t last all that long and eventually, you’ll get a chance to use a nice rod and reel and realize that you were at a disadvantage with the cheap combo. It’s worth the investment in a decent rod and reel.

This video is the gold standard of YouTube video. So informative. Been trying to figure out by myself without a dad or older person to reach me for years. Wish I had seen your video years ago.
Nicely done. Much appreciated.
What about if you see something jumping in the water and you don’t know what that is? What would you do? And one more, how do you know how fast to drag your lure, this is one of my biggest unknow thing… Thank you!

Which one of these do you recommend for sea fishing?
are plastic baits just better at this point versus live bait like worms?
I see a 4$ scum frog!!! So cheap and so good. Screw those 15$ frogs
TIL, pike will eat everything
Say, i want to connect my bait to my line without having to make a knot each time, and when I’m done fishing, I want nothing on the line. Whats the best way to do this? I thought maybe I make a loop and snap that to one side of the duolock and snap the bait to the other side. Is that possible? If yes, are these snaps like double safety snaps but smaller?
This video turned me into a true master baiter. Thanks.
This the detail i want, thank you 😅
Started restoring a vintage rod and reel and came looking for answers. Instant sub. Clear info, no BS. Thnx, Nat
Hi Nat, thank you for such a detailed video, I’ve been having a hard time finding these types of clear instructions on best bait-related practices, this was most helpful.
Could you ellaborate on how you reel in topwater baits? You mentionned twitching them?
5:20 it’s Cool to see a spot I recognize
What fishing pole would you recommend for catching big fish
Great video
Moral of the video, pike eat anything and everything.
Very helpful
Thanks from Nigeria 🙌
My go to this season has been taking a mini jig…forget the brand but it’s those 2$ mini jugs, in watermelon color…and then taking a watermelon color strike king rage tail soft bait, cutting half the body off, and threading it onto that jig. Keep the trailing tails/claws vertical for heavy sunfish ponds to mimic them, and for heavy crawfish ponds put them horizontal and let the jig hit all the way to bottom. Have been having crazy good large mouth, like, and pickerel luck with em.
I’m new to fishing and Thank you so much for this video. This is a clear and concise video and great info on lures and when and how to use them. The actual visualization of them in the water helps it make sense and I can now better understand the function of the different lures. Thank you.
Out of everything I have watched to try to figure out what types of lures there are and how they are used, this video has been the most informative and has good visuals to really show what is going on under the water. Thank you!
As somebody getting back into fishing since childhood. Thank you for this. I’ve been getting sick knowledge from tons of fisherman but this helps a lot
What’s a good color for a chatter bait?
hello i live and river fish in muddy colour water in thailand what would be best to use
I just got into fishing and had bought lots of lures that I don’t even have any idea how to use them 😅
What about catfish
44 years living on the river and I still learned a ton of info here!! Greatly appreciated my friend
ive been fishing basically my whole life but never taken it serious i just threw a worm out there lol its good to finally know the names of all these and when to use em! preciate you!
Wow, as someone who grew up fishing in the open sea, the viver fishes are really easy. In sea, you gotta use a bleading meaty bait to get bigger fishes. One time my dad also broke open urchins at the bottom of the sea to attract them to the boat
Which is best for onshore saltwater (sea) fishing
Do you have any vid for salmon bait and tips? Thanks
Im new to fishing, and I just got all of my father’s and my grandfathers tackle,, and this video helped a ton. Thank you so much!
I have the Northland Tackle Mimic Minnow but I don’t know when to use it and for what.
good video
Excellent video! I have several of these lures in my tackle box but need to round out my collection. Clear and concise and the underwater action shots are very helpful.
whats a feet, we’re not all imperial
Wow, this video is exactly what I was looking for…..thank you for putting this together, super helpful!
HOW THE HECK DO YOU CATCH FISH THAT BIG IN A KAYAK AND NOT TIP OVER? lol
I haven’t been fishing for years and thought I’d refresh my memory – and learn something new as well! This video is really great – good explanation of each lure type and when to use’em, and not to mention the camerawork of the lures in action with slo-mo and rattle & blubbing sounds!
I share your opinion on the in-line spinners – they’ve never failed me and the bass go crazy for’em!
How do you know if you’re fishing in a spot with heavy vegetation?
