  4. Wasnt a bridge too far to expect a fish in that hole… I spend most work days exploring google maps (how my boss isn’t on you tube…) to find acess points to smaller creeks. Always such a reward to find a new spot with fish!

  8. Gday Robbie, love the videos mate, keep up the great work. I have recently got back into fishing about a year ago and your videos have been very helpful. I mainly fish freshwater too, mainly in Western Victoria in the Wimmera River and other lakes around the Horsham area. There is some pretty good fishing around the area with Yellowbelly, Redfin and some cod in the lakes, you should come over this way one day and give it a go. Also love your taste in music, i know you like a bit of Metallica so i have put a link below of me and my 15yr old son playing a song for you. Hope you enjoy and keep reelin em in mate! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค˜

  9. Nice one Robbie, same over here! You just wonโ€™t know until you fish a water whatโ€™s potential is. Iโ€™ve walked bloody miles in a day before now only to blank. But hey, thatโ€™s fishing.

  10. Hey Robbie Iโ€™ve found this video helpful, Iโ€™m a really big fan of your videos, I just caught my first Murray cod what was 37cm, I used all your fishing tips and it worked, keep up the good work mate๐Ÿ‘

  11. Hi Robbie Iโ€™ve been watching some of you older vids with the missus and she was impressed with your woman with 12 breasts joke. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚Keep em coming mate. ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

  12. .There’sa fella I watch here in the U.S. who uses google earth to find new fishing spots. Sometime he’ll drive 2 hours to try something hesaw on there, but his primary income is from his youtube videos so a four hour round trip isjust part of the business.

  13. That’s the way mate, even if you don’t catch something – if the signs look good at a spot then there’s no reason the fish won’t be there in the future.

To me, I don’t really have ‘secret spots’ that I fish. I’m fairly open about the places I fish as I’ve found it’s more than just knowing where to fish. Knowing when to fish a spot, what to use and how to use it are far more important factors in my opinion and a lot more difficult to figure out!

  14. caught a big glathead and a Big Salmon Caught a Trevelly thr trevally was too small it went back kept the Salmon and the flathead

  15. That’s all you can really do indeed. Since there is no real map telling you 100% where things are for certain. I have caught fish in rivers that are barely even mentioned online, and then on the flip side I have gone to the most popular rivers and caught nothing.
My general idea is that if the particular hole or area looks like people go there all the time, then probably give it a miss, the fish probably will be fished out or have been permanently scared away from settling in that area because of people being there all the time.

I find the best fishing is usually in areas that people rarely go to, these areas are where a fish population have been able to establish themselves in peace, of course until I come along with my rod, lol.

There is another cheat I used, look at the state’s fish stocking map. This tells you how many of a species were dumped into what river and in what year. If there is a river that has had for example tens of thousands of yellowbelly dumped into it every year for the past decade, it’s almost certainly going to be a winner for going there and trying to catch that species. This is especially useful with trout, because up here in NSW trout simply don’t exist in many rivers, only a few colder upstream areas will you find a trout that wasn’t placed there recently and is a descendant of some natural population (not native of course, but naturally occurring baby fish I mean, not hatchery ones). The trout stocking map is the best, I use it and found good trout fishing up in the MacDonald river to the east of Bendemere. I never feel guilt about taking non-native fish for myself, because I know they have a worldwide existence, I always feel guilty about taking native fish however, especially the cod, because it’s trying to bounce back and it only exists in Australia as a species. The odd time I will take a yellowbelly because they are just too damn delicious to pass up sometimes.

Redfin fishing is always fun. I tend to find Redfin a lot in the new England area. They appear to flourish in cooler waters, and not too much flow either, like a large body of water in a cooler temperature river seems really good for Redfin. The Redfin are so easy to catch on the spinner lures I find, since the Redfin have great eyesight and are an athletic fish, they are a super predator and take to the flashing spinner lures aggressively.

I enjoy doing a bit of carp fishing in a beautiful river not far from my house. You really don’t have to even try to find carp, they are basically in every river, so there is no intelligence gathering in reference to carp fishing. Just take some corn and go catch them in just about any river. Carp are a bit boring in the initial phase of hooking them up, since you don’t use lures, but you just use bait, and they are so incredibly easy to hook up. But the fun with carp is their fight, they fight so bloody hard and it’s fun. I cut off a small fillet from the lateral line and down, it’s only small, but this area is boneless, after you catch 3 carp you have a good meal of these boneless fillets combined, carp actually is a good tasting fish, you just can’t take the bulk of the meat on the lateral line and above , as it’s full of bones.
