  1. Tip no 1 is FALSE
The " fish finder" on party boats are mounted. From the middle of the ship to just a little towards the back of the boat. Unless you are on a private charter or smaller boats usauly mount right below the stern.
ALWAYS TIP YOUR MATES AT LEAST 20 PERCENT! More if you have an extremely well day of fishing.
Those guys and girls work very hard and tips are 90 percent of thier wages for the day.

  2. fished my whole life fresh water and on great lakes, going out first time out of Dana point with my 9 year old, thank you for the tips.

  3. Going tomorrow on first partyboat. Always fished freshwater before. Do the Capt and mate really help you with the rig and baiting…bringing my 10 year old and Im concerned about how Ill manage he and I since itll be new to me too.

  5. addition to tip 9, don’t go if you are hungover from the night before, trust me on this one. and i never heard that about the banana, that’s funny haha good vid zack

  6. My boss invited me on a fishing trip to deep water, and the trip is tomorrow.

I have never been deep sea fishing and I have never taken a boat out to deep water. I appreciate you sharing this information.

  7. Who said the transducer is located near the stern? As a party boat Mate i can say any transducer for the fish finder was always located in the center of the boat.

  8. How to you prevent sea sickness? I’m going Deepsea charter fishing on Friday and I don’t wanna end up throwing up all day lol

  9. Never go on a charter if it’s true that they want 20% tips. A tip is supposed to be a tip. Not a demanded fee.

  10. Transducer for fish finder is right under wheel house , it’s a through hall transducer , be fishing on either side of wheel house

  11. He forgot that most important tip don’t forget to tip the mate who’s taking care of you all day long and has to clean up after you when you leave

  12. When you fish off the back of the rear of the boat all the lines get to float to the rear of the boat because the anchor is holding the front of the boat straight so the tide or wind makes the boat drift that way and you get less tangles from other lines

  13. Take your dramamine the night before so it has time to start working, then take another the morning of the trip. It can take several hours for medications to kick in. This is why some people swear by it while others don’t.. Motion sickness can be avoided or minimized if pre treated.

  14. Ginger candy or ginger pills can help with seas sickness. Go to the boat dock the before you book and see what they bring in and talk to the fisherman gettng off the boat. After numerous head boat trips, 1/2 could care less if you catch fish, the Captain is just hired not an owner and it shows. Often the Captain has his ‘favorite’ people who always magically get the stern even if they show up last. Never ever pre tip the mates, if you do you will get zero help. Find out ahead of time about braid / mono line rules.

  15. $0.50 to $1.00 per fish for cleaning? Holy shit that’s cheap! Everywhere I’ve been it’s $0.50-$0.60 per pound
